About
Hi! I’m Marie, welcome to my food blog! I love lists, so I will list a few relevant things about me.
- I am a perfectionist when it comes to cooking and baking. I will try and try again until I get it right, and spend hours scouring the interwebs and combining recipes to achieve the result I am looking for.
- I am also a bit of a health freak and I love exercising and being in the great outdoors. So be it a healthy, well balanced and flavorful meal, or delicious, indulgent confection — my goal is to create a dish that is a tsunami of umami without compromising (too much) on your waistline.
- I have a wonderful husband who makes me laugh even when I am totally mad at him. Free marriage advice: if you’re steaming mad but he can still get you to crack a smile even at that moment, he’s a keeper.
- We have two daughters, Zoe and Keira. They light up my life.
- I love running, biking, rollerblading, badminton, beach volleyball, skateboarding and snowboarding — this list can go on for a while. I enjoy pretty much all kinds of sports except golf. Golf is for boring middle-aged men with small…hands.
- I devour books like I devour carbs. Like a beast.
- I love coffee. Oh, coffee, how I love thee.
Some would describe me as a “foodie”, but to be honest I hate that word. How did that non-word even edge its way into our vernacular? It’s basically baby-talk, like when you add an -ie suffix to everything to make it sound cute: “wanna poopie in the potty baby? After you eat this foodie?” But I should stop myself before I launch into a full-on rant. The point is, I love food — the sourcing, crafting, and savouring of it — so if “foodie” is what is now ubiquitously accepted as describing someone who possesses an ardent interest in food, (a food aficionado! A foodo! Ok that maybe sounds worse than foodie) then I will humbly submit myself to that dang moniker.
But seriously, guys, this blog is a labour of love — love for my family, friends, and food. Each recipe is crafted with care and attention; be it curated from my regular rotation of weeknight meals or inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and trying out the recipes, and if you do, I would love to hear from you! Drop me a note on the recipe page or contact page. Let’s do this thang!
xoxo
Marie
